Abstract

As an ethnic minority in the great family of Vietnamese ethnic minorities, the Hmong have contributed to the panorama of Vietnamese cultural life with a color and a unique line. Ethnic history – “the migration filled with tears and blood” affirmed the strong vitality, courage and will of the Hmong people. The life in the high mountains with severe circumstances and conditions has produced a Hmong people with economic life, customs, social life, spiritual life, etc. full of personalities and characters. The optimistic, romantic spirit even wildness; the simple, honest, rustic soul even easiness; clear-cut stand on what to love and what to hate, extremely straightforward, etc. are characteristics of the Hmong. The Hmong are a people who love art. The movement of poetry in relation to the world of images and cultural symbols of the Mong group in Vietnam are presented in three aspects: a rich and unique world of images; the trend of expanding the world of symbols; some symbols in traditional and modern Hmong poetry. That will be interesting discoveries about the issue of ethnic characteristics of the Hmong people. Thereby, the article points out: the process of development from Hmong folk poetry to Hmong poetry in the modern time associated with the expansion of the world of symbols (besides traditional symbols, appear many new symbols bearing the mark of the time. It shows the process of awareness of the world, people and society, and the growth in the spiritual life of the Hmong people in Vietnam.
