Any participation in any GLOCAL Conference service will constitute acceptance of this agreement.

By accessing and using the GLOCAL Conference services, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. In addition, when using the particular services respective to the GLOCAL Conferences, you shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services, and to any changes to these rules, which may arise at any time. Any participation in this service will constitute acceptance of this agreement. For those who wish to not agree with the terms of the GLOCAL services, they shall refuse to participate in the GLOCAL services.

The SOAS Global Council for Anthropological Linguistics (The GLOCAL) Privacy Policy

The GLOCAL believes that privacy is crucial to the success and use of any service both offline or on the Internet. This statement sets forth The GLOCAL’s policy, and describes the practices that it will follow with respect to the privacy of the information of users of this site, and of the GLOCAL services in general. Should any users or participants have any questions regarding this policy or the GLOCAL practices, they can email glocal@soas.ac.uk.

What Personal Information the GLOCAL Collect

The GLOCAL collects the personal information online of all users of GLOCAL services when they voluntarily provide it to the GLOCAL. If the users choose to register online, the GLOCAL asks that they provide limited personal information, such as their name, address, telephone number, and email address. The GLOCAL also collects information that will allow users of its services to establish a username and password, should the users wish to register for GLOCAL log in services.

How to Review and Change Your Personal Information

If users of the GLOCAL services register for a conference account, they may review and change their personal information by logging in to the conference website, then clicking on their name at the top of the screen, and then by clicking on ‘Manage Profile,’ or by logging into ‘Manage my Account.’

How We Use Personal Information That We Collect Online

The GLOCAL may use the personal information of its users within The GLOCAL: (1) to provide users with the services they request; (2) to answer questions about the services of the SOASL GLOCAL; billing, payment methods or use of the GLOCAL websites; (3) to process or collect payments for GLOCAL services; and (4) to contact GLOCAL users about the products and services offered by the GLOCAL.

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

The GLOCAL will not disclose any personal information to any third party (excluding contractors to whom the GLOCAL may provide such information for the limited purpose of providing services to the GLOCAL and who are obligated to keep the information completely and fully confidential), unless (1) users of GLOCAL services have authorized the GLOCAL to do so; (2) the GLOCAL is legally required to do so, for example, in response to a subpoena, court order or other legal process and/or, (3) it is necessary to protect the property rights of the GLOCAL related to this website. The GLOCAL may also share aggregate, non-personal information about website usage with unaffiliated third parties. This aggregate information does not contain any personal information about users of the GLOCAL services.

How We Protect Information Online

The GLOCAL exercises great care to protect the personal information of its users. This includes, among other things, using industry standard techniques such as firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection. As a result, while the GLOCAL strives to protect the personal information of its users, the GLOCAL cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted by the users of the GLOCAL to the GLOCAL or the security of any information received by the users of the GLOCAL from the GLOCAL. This is especially true for information users of the GLOCAL transmit to the GLOCAL via email since these users have no way of protecting that information until it reaches the SOASL GLOCAL as email does not have the security features that are built into the SOASL GLOCAL websites.

When registering and using a GLOCAL website, the GLOCAL recommends that its service users do not divulge their passwords to anyone. The SOASL GLIOCAL will never ask users of its services for their passwords in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Users must remember to sign out of the GLOCAL website and close their browser window when they have finished their work, so as to ensure that others cannot access the personal information and correspondence of the users, if these others have access to computer previously operated by users.

The GLOCAL wishes to provide site visitors with valuable information, services and products. Featured programs and other site content within The GLOCAL site may link its users to third party sites. The GLOCAL does not control and is not responsible for practices of any third-party websites.

This site and its components are offered for informational purposes only; this site shall not be responsible or liable for the accuracy, usefulness or availability of any information transmitted or made available via the site, and shall not be responsible or liable for any error or omissions in that information.

Intellectual Property

The Site and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by The GLOCAL, and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

Payment and Refund Policy

All bookings made prior to the conferences and other services provided by The GLOCAL must be paid in full to guarantee registration or usage. Once payment has been received, an email confirmation will be sent. If payment is not made at the time of booking, registration will be provisional. All payments must be made by credit card, bank transfer, Wing, or any other service stulted by The GLOCAL. Payment by check can not be accepted, unless clearly stipulated in writing by The GLOCAL .

Delegates may nominate an alternative person from their organization to attend The GLOCAL events up to 72 hours prior to the start of those event at no charge, unless otherwise stipulated by The GLOCAL All registrations to the (SCOPUS/ISI) GLOCAL events are refundable in full up to four months from the date of payment, and will be refunded directly to the payer’s payment source. After this four month period, there will be a $20 USD fee, and the refund will be sent to the payer’s PayPal account, as The GLOCAL CALA cannot refund directly to a credit card after this four month period. At this time, PayPal will take a small transaction fee.

All registration fees to GLOCAL events must be forwarded to the GLOCAL or any representative body, such as collaborating universities or the CALA, COMELA, MEALA, AFALA, COOLA, or SCAALA committees, by the date specified on event respective websites, in order for a place in the even to be guaranteed. The GLOCAL receives an overwhelming response globally, and hence the GLOCAL attempts to accommodate to everyone, but space is limited.

Alterations to programs, cancellation/postponement of events

The GLOCAL reserves the right to make alterations to the program, venue, and timings. of its events, In the unlikely event of these programs being canceled by The GLOCAL, a full refund will be made. Liability will be limited to the amount of the fee paid by the delegate.

Termination Policy

The GLOCAL reserves the right to change these conditions from time to time as it sees fit. The continued use of The GLOCAL site will signify the acceptance of any adjustment to these terms by the users. If there are any changes to The GLOCAL website privacy policy, The GLOCAL will announce that these changes have been made, on The GLOCAL home page or on other key pages on The GLOCAL site. If there are any changes in how The GLOCAL uses the site’s customers’ Personally Identifiable Information, notification by email will be made to those affected by the change. Any changes to the privacy policy if The GLOCAL website and other services ill be posted on The GLOCAL website 30 days prior to these changes taking place. All users are therefore advised to re-read this statement on a regular basis
