The archive categorizes linguistic, anthropological, and cultural data from scholars globally as contributors.while also drawing on AI technology to develop the maps.

The GLOCALangs purports to not only document and archive data, but to revise current systems of language documentation, preservation, analysis, and reconstruction, to develop new systems for documentation and classification, and to contribute to the global efforts of revitalization and sustaining of languages facing denigration and extinction, while also strengthening the agencies of minority languages and their speakers.
Purpose 2
The GLOCALangs purports to archive and reassess language statistical data and the development of categories on the linguistic anthropologies of languages, such as symbolic typologies, descriptions of language socialization, and patterns of translanguaging.
Method and Indexing
Data submitted to the GLOCALangs can be uploaded in segments, and can be continually extended on over time. The archives are fully secure, and contributions will be indexed as scholarly contributions (SCOPUS and WoS / ISI), pending necessary review processes. While the data will be presented on the GLOCAL.SOAS website and portal, all credit will be given to the documenting contributors as field workers, authors, and researchers, as well as other stakeholders and participants who are members of the language and speech communities.
